Remortgaging Your Home: What You Need to Know

Remortgaging is when you swap your current mortgage for a new one. People do this for various reasons all the time. Maybe you found a better deal with lower interest rates, want to combine multiple loans into one payment, or need to borrow more for home improvements or a holiday.

Getting Started

We'll reach out to your current lender to get a statement showing what you still owe on your mortgage. At the same time, we'll handle any necessary searches with the local authorities. Meanwhile, you'll apply for your new mortgage.

Mortgage Offer

Once your new mortgage application is approved, you'll receive a copy of your Mortgage Offer. If possible, we'll use a local search Indemnity Policy instead of full searches to keep costs down and speed up the process. This policy covers any issues that could affect your property's value, while searches identify potential risks for you and your new lender.

Completion Date

We'll set a completion date as soon as possible and send you the Mortgage Deed to sign and return. We'll also ask your current lender for a final statement to confirm the exact amount you owe.

Completion Day

Once we receive the funds from your new lender, we'll pay off your existing mortgage. Any remaining balance will be sent to you on the same day.

Post-Completion

We'll send the Mortgage Deed to the Land Registry to update their records with the changes.
